I went looking for Mark Langley's video on PMI's about the PMI code of ethics on the YouTube channel

Looks like it went to cyberspace

Did the same happen with the Principles of the Code of Ethics?

Are PMI members (including the Board) aligned with the PMI Code of Ethics Principles?

Is Ethics, at PMI, elastic?

PMI has moved around some of their website content, but if you go here: https://www.pmi.org/about/ethics , you can find the Code of Ethics along with other resources and content.

Dear Kiron
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your opinion.

Let's face it, it's not the same to have a video of the PMI President talking about ethics and the PMI code of ethics and the link you sent me

I can't speak to the YouTube videos. As for as Code of Ethics, we all signed on the dotted line. Does that make us "aligned" with the associated principles? I would like to think so.

In a way, ethics are elastic. Ethics are situational. Take Malaysian or Chinese companies: I'm sure the federal restrictions, or lack thereof, greatly affect what their code of conduct looks like!

Dear Stephane
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your opinions.

There are many people who confuse Principles (which should regulate humanity) with interests.

In rational economics, the prevailing concept of fraud comes from the economist Gary Becker of the University of Chicago, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1992.

As Becker suggested, people commit crimes based on a rational analysis of each situation.

One day Becker was late for a meeting and, due to a shortage of parking spaces, he decided to park illegally and risk getting a ticket. Becker analyzed his own reasoning process in this situation and noted that his decision had been entirely a matter of weighing the possible cost of being “caught” and having his car ticketed and eventually towed, versus the benefit of getting to the meeting on time. . He also noted that in weighing costs and benefits there was no room for right or wrong considerations, it was only a matter of comparing positive and negative outcomes.

The essence of Becker's theory is that decisions about honesty, like most others, are based on a cost-benefit analysis.

In your opinion, does clicking that we respect and comply with the code of ethics have any meaning beyond what we clicked on?

Agreed - it does appear to have been reduced in status. However, it is encouraging that there are three ethics violations reported and addressed so there does appear to be some actions being taken...

Referred and cases in thousands of members?

What will be the perspective of those who appreciate the reported cases?

Do they also consider ethics to be elastic when analyzing situations?

Dear Stephane
You may not know that I joined PMI because of the code of ethics

This happened in the wake of the subprime crisis, caused by people of integrity and aligned with the Principles that govern humanity.

I also had the opportunity to be a member of a Toastmasters Club and to be a charter member of a Toastmasters club (which also has a code of ethics and conduct)
I met a lot of people...

I am a charter member, and co-founder, of the Charlottetown Toastmasters Breakfast Club. I believe you are referring to the Toastmasters' Promise?
