Hi everyone,
I'm considering taking this course: Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Online Course and Exam, offered by the PMI.
I'd like to clarify some elements before buying it.
I did in the past the "Basics of Disciplined Agile™ Online Course" which was interesting, but in a format that is difficult to handle for me: A lot of animations (like a Flash website) to deliver the content. I'm able to learn quickly if I have structured content (like a transcript, with the full text). My first question is the following: What are the deliverables of this training? How is the content formatted? Are there videos? Transcripts? Documents? Animations?
My second question (secondary goal here) Do you have any feedback on this course?
I'd assume the on-demand version is the same underlying courseware as the live instructor led (which I've delivered) and so it would be a combination of slides and videos.
However, I'd strongly recommend taking the DASSM workshop via a live instructor led format as you'll benefit from their experience in applying DA in real-life situations and you'll also learn a lot through the interactions with the other learners completing the exercises.
This is not as critical for DASM, but with DASSM, it will be a lot better experience.

Thanks Kiron.
I understand the pros of having a live instructor, but for my needs here, I don't want to register to a live course.
Thanks for the answer of the format - I understand there is no transcript of the course. Did I understand correctly?

Eric -
could you clarify what you mean by a transcript? Are you referring to a text version of the full content which the instructor would normally deliver "live"? If so, then you are correct.

Hi Kiron
I'm a learner by reading and not by listening. For me that's important to have a structured document that contains all the content. Most of the training that I do online are PowerPoint and videos based, and there is no transcript of the videos - Hence I must write down the content into notes, and then learn these notes. I'm just trying to skip this step.
Thanks a lot for your time and answers

I don't believe there are transcripts of any of the videos, however, there is no content in the videos which isn't also covered in either the slide content or the study guide so you should be fine

Hello Éric, I might be too late, and you already bought PMI's DASSM e-course. In which case you already know about the content. But just in case...
As handouts, you have:
- the book Choose your WoW version 1.2 - you can also download it for free from PMI's website if you are a member... but now it's version 2 that is available on PMI's website. It's a shorter version because it contains juste the first 6 chapters that explain what DA is. In parallel, you can access the DA browser that is more up-to-date for each process goal than the book version can be (because it is static until a new versions publish). https://www.pmi.org/disciplined-agile/da-browser
- the DASSM participant handout : a brief document with some information on metrics... it still seems to be the one I received when I contacted PMI about the fact the document was missing from their portal...
- the DASSM resources by lesson : list for each lesson of references (books, articles with links) to explore the concepts in more details
- the DA bibliography : list of all the books, articles etc referred to during the e-course
- the DA glossary : list of terms and their definition
- the DASSM activity workbook : for each lesson, a list of activities to practice what you are learning
*****
The e-course contains 9 modules each about a different topic. If you did your PMP or PMI-ACP you will already know some of the concepts explain... but it is done from an agile... or dare I say a DA point of view. There is 2 maybe 3 different voices that present the material that do not sound like an electronic computerized voice. It is a mix of texts, videos, quizzes. Quite similar to the format of PMI's DASM e-course.
It is not the same thing as an instructor-led course. But if you want to go that way, I did the e-course and did succeed in the DASSM exam earlier this year.
