Due to existing staff shortages and talents, there has been a dramatic shift and increase in work load of existing staff who have to carry the extra work involved in their current duties or as an added duty/overtime pay. Due to individual lifestyles or choices, staff may need to carry on and continue working in their current jobs.
In your personal work experience, how are you able to make your work fun and easy despite the heavy workload and challenges that come with it? Saving Changes...
We all know that work can sometimes be a drag. But it doesn't have to be! There are lots of little things you can do to make your workday more fun and easy.
Here are a few ideas:
1. Take a break every few hours to stretch, walk around, or just get some fresh air. Sometimes I block the team members agenda to walk around, or grab a "virtual coffee"
2- take time to chat with co-workers, learn something new from them. That also helps in potential colaborations.
3. Remember to laugh! Laughter is the best medicine, after all.
For me, what I really enjoy is to take on challenging projects, onces that aren't in my confort zone, never worked with the stakeholders before and/or never managed something similar. It helps my organization with workload and helps me to keep my engagement levels.

Thank you for the human-centric suggestions. Taking a break, chatting, and laughter makes life easier. Social connections help a lot.
Create social activities--wellness challenges, bake-offs, etc.-- that allow team members to relax and decompress.

Proper prioritization and planning are the keys.
Thank you for the suggestion. Yes, if there is planning and prioritization, there will be less clutter or confusion. Saving Changes...

We had a competition between teams. Each team's members would pick a daily wellness activity (for example, I chose to do 100 pushups each day) for a period of 30 days. We had a simply Google app that would let us record our daily accomplishments. At the end you tabulate all the daily occurrences. The team with the most occurrences wins. The winning team gets bragging rights until the next challenge!

Letting technical people experiment with new technical solutions is fun for the techies.
I received great input from a manager years ago when I was on a fast moving high stress project and I complained that people were having too much fun gold plating their work and we could move faster if people stuck to the minimum requirements instead of making things "pretty"
My manager reminded me that my team was currently working 50% overtime but they were happy, engaged, and we were getting stuff done at an incredible pace. If the team was doing extra work experimenting, and that was what was keeping them motivated to work long hours, then don't fight it. Embrace it. Saving Changes...

A good recommendation is to make an "active pause" in the middle of the work day, to allow employees to do relaxing activities like exercise, dance, or take a nap. This pause helps to renovate forces and finish the working day successfully.
That sounds like a great idea. However, that wouldn't happen here. I have to make myself take a walk during the day. I have to do better. Saving Changes...
