If you were a member of the PMI Board and you were aware of the possibility of a conflict of interest in a Chapter, what would you do?

Hi Luis

yes, the Board is elected by members and represents membership as a whole. What this means is legally defined, so it might not suit expectations of people who are not educated in governance.

No, no candidate may have a own program (other than in government). Board directors are expected to match the defined criteria. One of them is diversity, so yes, different backgrounds and perspectives are designed in.

Electioneering (marketing yourself) is not allowed.

This is true for the global Board, local Boards have to follow local laws and bylaws. For example electioneering might not be strictly forbidden.
Dear Thomas
Is it possible for any PMI member to disagree with the Strategy Formulated by the Board?

Or, having a contrary opinion does not mean diversity?

yes, certainly everybody is allowed to have their own perspectives, even Board members can disagree with the strategy of PMI.

And they have disagreements as there is or should be cognitive diversity on the Board.

Board members are obliged to represent the strategy though, when a decision is made, as the Board must have one voice only. Other members like myself or you can state their disagreements.

Dear Thomas
I admit that my English is not so good that I don't understand perfectly what you are trying to tell me.

If I understood correctly, for the PMI Board of Directors, candidates cannot campaign personally.

Despite this, for the election to the Board of Chapters depends on the statutes of the same. That's it?

In other words, PMI accepts (depending on the bylaws) that for the Board of Chapters, people who are part of the Boards can use / or create events that perpetuate them in the respective Boards, is that it?
Luis,
1. yes
2. yes
3. PMI does not accept it, but also does not prohibit it.
There is a delicate balance between regulating independent (as they are incorporated in their country legislations) Chapters top-down and let them decide on their own ways (and with freedom comes responsibility).

Dear Thomas

The information I have is that PMI usually recommends and validates the statutes of the Associations that represent PMI around the world

After all, now the designation of the chapters is PMI (name of the Country and/or Region of Influence)

The logo is approved by PMI

This "responsibility" referred to easily slips into opportunism and lack of ethics

Is this one of the reasons for the weak PMI growth in some countries and/or regions?

Dear Thomas

I'm more rested :-)

I understand that all Board members are aligned on the Strategy for PMI
It would be surprising if that didn't happen.
They all participate in its formulation and, in my opinion, should actively participate in its implementation (enforcement)
