I recently received an invitation to review a paper on organizational behavior from one of my colleagues. My colleague is a mid-career member and a part of a well-reputed IT firm involved in software development and maintenance for Fortune 500 companies.

He informed me that he had written the article using ChatGPT. I reviewed the article, had some suggestions, and sent it back to him.

ChatGPT seems to be taking over the writing domain where the model creates essays, and letters, answers questions, writes emails and blogs, etc. While I think we are making great progress with the help of artificial intelligence and machine learning, I wonder about this new tool's authenticity and ethical grounding. I am also told ChatGPT can help answer some of your personal health questions. This can compromise personal health information.

Would like to hear from you all on your thoughts on the ethical considerations around the use and application of ChatGPT.

Developing AI has been a hot topic. Obviously, it could be a double edged sword.

AI is revolutionizing the way we work, allowing us to shift our focus to more creative tasks while letting the technology handle repetitive writing tasks such as essay writing, letter writing, and email composing. As the use of AI models like ChatGPT expands, it's important to consider the ethical implications surrounding their use, particularly regarding the privacy and personal health information. However, by embracing the benefits of AI, we can improve our efficiency and effectiveness, freeing up time and resources to tackle more complex and impactful challenges.

P.s. This answer has generated by ChatGPT; basically, I gave it my idea and opinion, and it generated the texts instead of me.

there are two separate ethical concerns at play with tools like ChatGPT. The first relates to the issue of "cheating" where it is used in scenarios where original writing was required and the second relates to the nature of the outputs produced which may be influenced by bias or other factors. This has been an issue with machine learning-based decision support for many years.

As usual, our ability to use innovative technology responsibly always lags years behind its general availability...

* On the positive aspects, these IA applications can give us a multi-variety of information about a certain theme, which can enrich our expertise.
* On the negative aspect, real creativity and knowledge may be truncated and cheated by using these automated writers.

A combination of both real knowledge and AI assistance might be an apropiate manner of using this type of technology.

I would like to see that any article, document, opinion, statement, etc generated, or partly generated by AI be clearly identified. This should be programmed into the software. Otherwise we will have to assume all such documents are AI generated unless clearly identified otherwise.

We all know the damage 'Bots" can do on the internet (twitter, facebook, etc), do we really want to bring this into our professional and social lives?

Risk assessment:- question: is this a AI generated document?
probability: 50%
impact: 50%
mitigation measure: ignore. (my current reaction)

Dear Deepa
There are no codes of ethics, governance or laws that resist people who do not govern their lives by the Principles that govern humanity

There are many people whose lives are guided by the paradigm: "I can do anything as long as I don't get caught"

What I mentioned applies to the use of ChatGPT or any other human activity

There is no difference when people live in "The Matrix" using social media without thinking about who is answering from the other side or the degree of thruth on the answers. Or perhaps it is...At least in this case you know that ChatGPT is answering....

I share similar sentiments within the thread; there is an acute need of governance standards and/or protocols to prevent abuse and/or misuse.

There are no doubt good intensions here but AI development will not be limited to companies with ethics and moral standards plus there is the issue of compliance to these guidelines. Additionally, one has to wonder transparency and accountability to whom.
In any event these guidelines would not necessarily extend to the users.
