I would be interested to know if anyone has examples of Standard Operating Procedures for Lab Work? For example, a template or guide for the use of equipment and processes in the chemical or pharmaceutical industries? Any views or being pointed in the right direction would be much appreciated. As these are normally heavily regulated fields, I'd suggest first checking with the quality, validation or compliance departments within the company to see what standards they have.
I would start with your regulatory requirements. In a regulated industry, there is a difference between engineering testing, and regulatory testing.
Engineering testing is used to develop knowledge and reduce risk. Regulatory testing is to show compliance to requirements and is much more formal. Showing compliance encompasses not just the item being tested, but also the test setup and procedures so how the lab work is performed is likely also governed by regulatory requirements.
Lab operations also require routine and targeted maintenance in addition to testing, and other requirements such as occupational health and safety so your procedures will be heavily dictated by your complete requirement set. Saving Changes...
I agree with Kiron. You must have a meeting with the technical and quality departments, to define what regulations should be accomplished, and work along with them to establish processes and mode of use. Saving Changes...
