Good morning everyone-
I'm in the middle of putting my application together for the PMP exam and I'm wondering how the board will view a project where I serve as one project manager out of a total 3. Each PM serves a different role and covers different process groups, with varying levels of authority over their own processes versus the ones the other PM's are in charge of.
The question I had was- if I put into my application for the work description that I am one PM out of several, will the board see this as a negative and hold it against me in that I am not THE project manager who manages everything on the project? Or should I list a different project in which I was the sole PM...? This project with several PM's is my best and biggest project so I would naturally assume to list that one, but if it's going to cause more harm than good then I of course want to use a different project.
Thank you in advance for whoever reads this, your thoughts and input would be very much appreciated. Saving Changes...
There is no "board" which reviews PMP applications. If your application is one of the lucky few to be flagged for an audit, it would be a single auditor reviewing it.
Having said that, yes, it is preferable to have projects in which you were performing processes from across the five old process groups of the PMBOK framework rather than just emphasizing any one.
So long as you can submit sufficient other projects to counter-balance the one where you shared the role of PM, you should be fine. I'd suggest submitting those first and then if you have experience hours left to submit, claim that one.

I do agree with Kiron's feedback
Personally, I did work on projects with more than one PM but each of us was in charge of a big section of the project and we used to perform activities across all process groups.
