PgMP Exam: What kind of preparation resources and methods would you recommend for the PgMP Exam Preparation process?

Hello Community,
I have just started my certification journey towards the highly respected PgMP certification.
Since I am still at the very beginning, I am in the process of planning my preparations and gathering preparation resources.
So far, I have downloaded (as a PMI member)
the current Program Management Standard
the Process Practice Guide
and the current PMBoK Guide
as well as all the resources that can be found on the pmi.org website like the credential Handbook, the Reference List and so on ...
I would also like to purchase a good prep book similar to Rita's for the PMP exam. Which one would you recommend, if any?
In addition, what other books and/or materials do you recommend using?
In terms of the preparation process and methods:
I will be taking a coaching/training program with a well-known PgMP coach.
We will also have a study group that meets regularly.
Is there anything else you can recommend? What procedure do you recommend in order to optimally and, above all, efficiently acquire the learning material, which is quite extensive after all?
I would appreciate any feedback or recommendations!
Thank you in advance and I look forward to your responses.
Hi there, thank you for the useful info in this thread - I am in the process of studying for the PgMP and would love to know if you recommend any specific practice tests? I see there are some available to purchase from udemy but I haven't used them before.
I have been working through the standard and also revising my PMP notes, any recommendations for practice tests would be gratefully received! Saving Changes...
Hi Markus I passed my PgMP in July 2023 this year and I self-studied completely. I agree with Rami. I studied by understanding and reading 3-4 times the Standard for Program Management V4 (SPM) and Exam Content Outline (ECO). Study the SPM based on ECO weighting. You have to know the EVM formulas. You don't need to memorise the ITTO as there are no ITTO direct questions - but you need to understand the ITTO application as all questions are scenario based and need to apply ITTO. Dr. Ginger Levin's PgMP exam test prep is the best book for practice exams and it is a lot harder than the real PgMP exam, highly recommend her book as many in PMI community cite her material as best - make sure you understand the answer explanations. Good luck.
Hi Ian,
I was interested in your book recommendation - could you share a link or the specific title of the Ginger Levin book, please? I can see a few on Amazon - was this the one you used? https://amzn.eu/d/2dZosci Thanks,

Hello Sherzod,
Glad that you've started your PgMP journey. I took Harish's PgMP prep course (ACEPRO), which includes the exam simulation.
Key resources I used in my PgMP preparation are:
ECO
The Standard for Program Management (you've already got it)
Other Standards, such as PMBOK, Standard for Risk Management
Other additional sources:
Program Management by Michel Thiry
PgM Exam Test Preparation by Ginger Levin
PgMP Exam Preparation by Jean Gouix and Martial Bellec
Let us know if you have any specific questions. Wishing you all the best on your PgMP journey.

For those who’ve taken the PMI PgMP exam and passed, did you use AI-generated practice questions as part of your prep? I’m especially interested in whether they match rigor of PMI’s exam style and level of ambiguity closely enough to be effective. I've been honing the prompts for good question generation, though wonder how aligned they are with the exam. Saving Changes...
With the combination of the coaching program and study groups, your preparation plan already appears to be very solid. Focusing less on memorization and more on comprehending how program governance, benefits management, and stakeholder alignment function in real-world scenarios was one thing that helped me prepare for the PgMP. Because the PgMP exam is very different from the PMP exam, solving scenario-based practice questions on a regular basis was also helpful to me. Many candidates suggest combining the PMI standards with practical mock exams and discussion-based learning for preparation materials. I personally used some practice resources from Certs4Sure alongside the PMI materials to test my readiness and identify weak areas, which helped structure my study sessions better without overwhelming me. PgMP benefits greatly from application-based learning and consistency. Good luck with your travels! Saving Changes...
