Greetings Everyone, I am Ahmed. My background is in Information Security & Data Privacy and I have more than 19 years of progressive experience in project management leading Banking and Healthcare IT Projects. Over the course of my career, I worked with reputable organizations and clients both nationally and internationally and been deployed on high profile projects.
Besides working as a full time Senior Security Consultant with a consulting firm out of India and holding multiple key volunteer positions with global organizations, I am also the keen to learn and share.
Growing up, I've always wanted to be a Police officer and while my high school grades would have allowed me for a full scholarship, yet, I wasn't able to leave to go to another state at the time due to some personal circumstances.
My transition from Hospitality professional to Project Management was accidental but smooth at the same time. I function best under pressure and enjoy challenging work and I have lots of accomplishments both personal and professional to be proud of.
On a personal level, I am passionate about Personal/ Professional Development. On my free time, I regularly workout, play badminton and enjoy the outdoors. I like trying new restaurants and different foods.

Welcome, Ahmed! You're in the right place - many community members are eager to share their knowledge and learn from others. Thanks for joining us in PMI's online community!

Ebrima Fofana Consultant| Cityscape Associate Serrekunda, B, Gambia
Greetings my colleagues, I'm Ebrima, and today, I wear a Civil Engineer for 15 years’ experiences. Let me take you back a bit to my childhood dreams...

As a child in Serrekunda Kotu Layout, The Gambia, I had a clear picture of what I wanted to be when I grew up. I was more of a dreamer, fascinated in mathematics and the idea of making a real impact on the world.

Fast forward to today, and I'm deeply immersed in the world of technology. I have a set of trusty tools in my toolkit, like the BSc in Civil Engineering. The exciting part - I'm always on the lookout for new tools and technologies to up myself, so I started an upgrade myself to dive into the world and becoming more and more interested in it! One lecture says “Learning never stops”!

What brought me into this noble industry, and what's kept me here for 15 years? Making the world an easier and safer place to live. Without civil engineers we would not have safe homes, cohesive road systems or hospitals. By becoming a civil engineer, you will be able to positively impact society by making the world a better place. It's the thrill of tackling large-scale projects in sectors like building new airports, healthcare facilities, and more. The challenges, the chance to innovate, and most importantly, the opportunity to deliver civil engineering in the Cityscape Associate– that's what keeps me going every day!

As for my proudest accomplishment moment? Well, it's hard to pick but just a few one! I have plan some millstone rolls in every projects to make it successfully delivered and every time I've connected with an audience during my speaking or comments has been special (the last one in the past years at the The Gambia O.I.C conference building in the Gambia on the roads design projection) and the other one is Senior Civil Engineer consultant project managers at Saudi TECH JV Cityscape Associates.

Hello everyone, my name is Laure and I am a principal scientist in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. I also function as project manager and I just obtained the PMP. I am also a certified scrum master and Agile coach. For my work, I focus on the implementation of innovative technologies in the analysis of biologics like therapeutic peptides and viral vectors for gene therapy. I also worked on AI image analysis method development for Cryo electron microscopy. Basically, I come up with ideas that can be turned into patents :0).
-What did you want to be when you were growing up?
Exactly that, doing research as a chemist and helping people get medicines they need.

-What are your favorite project management tools and technologies?
Pharma and biotech rely on predictive project management, which makes sense since regulated manufacturing of medicines is involved. However, since I discovered Agile methodology and Scrum, I have worked on the implementation of Agile in analytical method development in my work.

-What drew you to the project management industry? What's kept you in it? I love organization and bringing to life ideas and projects. I love sharing my knowledge to support team members grow as professionals. This is what was done with me when I started.

-What's your proudest accomplishment? Being engaged in development of pioneering concepts, resulting in patented innovations has been a great learning journey for me along with working with great professionals I learned from. I was part of successful projects that brought to market real forever cures using viral vectors for genetic diseases that cannot be treated conventionally, hemophilia, retinitis pigmentosa...PMP is a new learning journey for me and I learned a lot of techniques on how to manage projects more effectively.

Karim Abdul Razak Deputy Director Engineering| Ghana Air Force ACCRA, AA, Ghana

Greetings from Ghana. I am Wing Commander Karim Abdul Razak, the Deputy Director Engineering, Ghana Air Force. I am a flight engineer with over 15 years of experience in overseeing aircraft maintenance projects. Occasionally, I also serve as a project officer, managing military construction and renovation activities within my organization.

I was born and raised in Kumasi, Ghana, under the mentorship of my father, who was a footballer. While I initially aspired to pursue a career in football, my father encouraged me to become an engineer. He provided me with the necessary resources, including engineering books, and guided me toward an engineering-related education. His dedication sparked my interest in the field, which I pursued through tertiary education, ultimately becoming an aeronautical engineer with the military.

In my current role, I am a member of the Ghana Air Force Contract Team. Over the years, I have supervised numerous aircraft maintenance projects and have been involved in negotiating aircraft-related contracts on behalf of the Government of Ghana. Additionally, I am a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers.

Although my professional background is in aeronautical engineering, my organization does not have specialized engineering departments, such as civil or chemical engineering. As a result, I am responsible for handling all engineering-related activities, which often requires me to apply myself across various disciplines to ensure the desired outcomes.

I have also been involved in projects with external partners, including Project DEFEND with the EU and an ongoing Super Tucano aircraft acquisition project with the OSC, US Embassy in Ghana. My engineering expertise has been crucial in these endeavors, and this experience has driven me to seek a more scientific approach to project management. Consequently, I decided to pursue the PMP program and join the PMI, where I hope to connect with subject matter experts and enhance best practices within my organization.

Zakaria Botros
Community Champion
Project Manager | Driving Clean Energy Innovations for a Sustainable Future| Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Ontario, Canada

My name is Zakaria Botros, and I currently work as a project manager. When I was a kid, I was always tinkering with gadgets and dreaming of becoming an engineer. That curiosity led me to pursue an engineering degree, which set the stage for my career.

In my work, I love using tools like Microsoft Project for scheduling, Trello for keeping track of tasks, and JIRA for managing agile projects. Lately, I've been really interested in exploring AI-driven project management tools and IoT technologies—they seem like the future!

What really drew me to project management was the chance to use my engineering skills on a bigger scale, managing projects that bring new ideas to life. The constant challenges and need for strategic thinking keep me on my toes and excited about my work.

One of my proudest moments was leading a team to complete a critical project ahead of schedule and under budget. It was a huge win for us and set a new standard for how we work together.

In summary, my journey from engineering to project management has been all about solving problems and making a real impact. The tools and technologies I use are key to my success, and I'm always eager to learn more. Seeing the direct results of my efforts and knowing I've helped my team succeed is incredibly rewarding.
