Hi Laura, my name is Jenny Lai.
I have been working in the Banking industry for over 6 years as a Project Manager, coming from an IT background. It is rather a natural career path that comes my way as I gained experience in the software and hardware industry simultaneously.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a book author. But my upbringing somehow pushes me to STEM, and ended up in Math and Computer Science side.
Favorite project management tool has to be JIRA and Confluence, as each task could be distributed to each team member, and also able to generate report to departments as a high-level overview for a quick glance at project health.

Carl ScheelProject Manager| Advanced Contractors Inc.Carson, CA, United States
My name is Carl Scheel and I am one of many Project Managers for Advanced Contractors Inc. in Torrance, California.
I come from humble beginnings and had no aspirations for a specific career while growing up other than being self-sufficient in raising a family. My father was a welder and I knew I would no be following in his footsteps. I ultimately landed in construction as a residential electrician and my career flourished. I soon became a Facilities Electrician and then Facilities Manager and now a Project Manager in a construction firm.
Since I am relatively new to being a PM, not much different from being a Facilities Manager, I'd like to be more proficient in MS Project.
I was drawn to PMI to earn my CAPM, PMP and ultimately my PM credentials and advance in my career.
My proudest accomplishment is being able to have raised a family, send my children off to college and have them self-sufficient raising their own families.

My name is Despoina, and I am a Neuroscientist with 5 years of research experience and 2 years of project management expertise.
A decade ago, I left my home country, Greece, to pursue my studies in the Netherlands. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of living and working in several countries, adapting to diverse cultures and environments. Initially, as a Neuroscientist, my career seemed naturally aligned with the academic path. However, during the early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to transition into management roles. This shift allowed me to rediscover my strengths and realize how my scientific and organizational skills could align within project management.
I’m excited to continue growing in this field and am looking forward to connecting with all of you!
