Hello, I'm Tom Kish. I grew up in West Texas but now live near Charleston, SC. I'm a Project Engineer at Volvo Cars, the assembly plant where we build the all electric EX90. In this role I manage CAPEX investments and support model year launch and new projects at the plant.
Growing up I thought I wanted to be a pilot, then at Texas A&M planned on being an Industrial Engineer. I graduated with a degree in Industrial Distribution and started working in the sales department at Magna Seating. After this I had a lateral move to be the local project manager and I found my calling. I worked as a project manager for new model launches and engineering changes at multiple automotive Tier 2 & Tier 1 suppliers. My largest projects were the launching of wrapped door panels for the Dodge Journey (included injection molds for plastic, foam molds, die boards for cutting vinyl, fixturing and the vinyl graining tool), this was at a small Tier 2 supplier in Cd Acuna Mexico. Later my largest accomplishment was to launch a Tier 1 seating plant for Isringhausen for the Mercedes Sprinter Vans. I was employee #2 after the plant manager and had to coordinate everything from IT infrastructure, electrical infrastructure, production equipment, hiring and training all employees. It was quite a large project. Up until now my favorite tool had been Microsoft Project and an excel open issues tracker. At Volvo I started to use JIRA for problem solving and Planisware in place of MS Project (web based timeline application). I enjoy planning and problem solving which is why I've been successful as a project manager.

Hey You! Amara here. I have been off the career ladder for 3 years now thanks to time off with cancer. My 16 years adventure as a PMP has seen me crisscross industries. Have worked in the office and on the fields. Growing up, I wanted to be in the Navy. My Guardian squashed that dream by telling me that Naval females do not marry. I like the WBS and Gantt Chart because I am a big picture person who easily gets overwhelmed. So while the Chart keeps it in perspective, the WBS helps me chunk down. Tools? I would like to catch up on the past 3 years. Project management lured me in from my Treasury background because I was curious. -Personal - Fighting cancer as a single parent and a new immigrant. Then beginning to write again after a brain fog Professional - All the successful projects I have delivered
Hi Amara, welcome to PMI's online community! The community is here to support you in your project management journey in any way that we can. We're glad to have you here! Saving Changes...

Hi Everyone,
I’m Tommy Nguyen, currently working as a Digital Transformation Manager - Digital & Innovation at HEINEKEN Vietnam, where I lead digital transformation initiatives, optimize supply chain operations, and implement innovative solutions using emerging technologies. From a young age, I was fascinated by technology and problem-solving, aspiring to become an engineer or strategist who could drive meaningful change. This passion led me to project management, where I specialize in AI, Blockchain, and supply chain optimization, integrating these technologies into large-scale transformation projects. Throughout my career, I have leveraged Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, Trello, and Power BI to streamline project workflows, particularly within Agile and Scrum environments. I am also keen on exploring AI-powered tools, predictive analytics, and Blockchain applications for supply chain transparency to further enhance efficiency and decision-making in project execution. My journey into project management began with my work in digital transformation and supply chain management, where I saw firsthand how structured methodologies like PMI’s frameworks are essential in ensuring project success. What keeps me engaged in this field is the constant evolution of technology and its ability to bridge business strategy with operational efficiency, creating long-term impact. Among my professional accomplishments, I take pride in successfully implementing a blockchain-based food transparency solution for an FMCG supply chain, significantly improving product traceability and consumer trust. Additionally, earning my PMP certification was a major milestone, reinforcing my expertise in project leadership and enabling me to drive complex, high-impact transformation initiatives. I am passionate about leveraging project management methodologies to align technology with business objectives, and I look forward to connecting with like-minded professionals in the PMI community to exchange knowledge, collaborate, and drive innovation.
