Hi everyone!
-Your name and your current role:
My name is Mya Elizabeth, I work in Talent Development at ALSAC/St. Jude.

-What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I wanted to own a daycare, be a surgeon, or be a fashion designer.

-What are your favorite project management tools and technologies? Or ones that you’d like to learn more about?
I'm very new to project management, so I'm here to learn everything. I've been using Microsoft loop and Jira so far, but I'm not sure those are true project management tools.

-What drew you to the project management industry? What's kept you in it?
My manager asked me to serve as a project manager for a project several months ago. I got a lot of compliments on how I ran the project and I truly enjoyed it; so now I'm trying to get more into project management. I'm just starting out, so I'm trying to learn the basics. I plan to attend a CAPM bootcamp this fall and take the exam.

-What's your proudest accomplishment (personal or professional)?
It sounds weird, but my proudest accomplishment is just surviving! :)
Hi Mya Elizabeth, welcome to PMI's online community! We're so glad to have you here. Best of luck on your CAPM journey!

Ahmed Sakr Abu Dhabi, AZ, United Arab Emirates

Hello everyone, I’m Ahmed Sakr, a civil engineer with 13 years of experience in the construction industry in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. I’ve worked as a contractor on residential villas and buildings, and as a consulting engineer on industrial projects, such as the pick tower for storing products for e-commerce companies. I also worked in Egypt with the Armed Forces Engineering Authority for nearly four years. Later, I founded my own contracting company and undertook my first private project: a ground floor + 5-story building. It was a bold venture, but an unexpected currency floatation negatively impacted the project due to severe inflation in material prices. After reassessing the situation and evaluating the earned value, I decided to withdraw from the project and not complete it. Subsequently, I moved abroad and continue to work in the great country of the United Arab Emirates.

Manuel Ugarte Director of Customer Success| Rhombus Power Washington DC / Baltimore, MD, United States
Hi everyone, I’m Manny! My path into project management has been more of an adventure than a straight line. I grew up wanting to be an engineer, fascinated with how things worked and how to make them better. Along the way, I discovered that bringing people together, solving complex problems, and seeing projects come alive was just as rewarding, and that’s what drew me into this field.

I’ve used plenty of tools and methods, from Lean Six Sigma to Agile, but lately I’m most curious about how AI will change the way we plan, execute, and deliver value. What’s kept me here is the people, every project has given me a chance to collaborate with teams from different backgrounds and cultures, and that’s where the real impact happens.

One of my proudest moments wasn’t tied to budgets or big portfolios, but to a small business I started in Panama years ago. It created jobs and supported families, and it reminded me how much impact good work can have on people’s lives. That perspective still guides how I approach projects today.

Outside of work, I love discovering new places, exploring cultures through food, and staying active. Always curious, always learning, that’s me in a nutshell.

Looking forward to connecting!

Vishal Sharma Project Management| Scottish Power

Hi everyone, I’m Vishal Sharma, currently working in the Project Management team, where I help drive the vision of a Net Zero future through large-scale infrastructure projects.

Growing up, I wanted to be an Engineer. Life steered me toward project management somewhat by accident, but I’ve grown to enjoy it for almost a decade now — especially being part of projects across Asia, Africa, and Europe, in different sectors, and experiencing the satisfaction of seeing them successfully delivered.

When it comes to tools and technologies, I’m particularly interested in those that support strategic decision-making — from portfolio planning tools, to data-driven platforms and scenario-based risk analysis tools that help align projects with long-term business strategy.

I’m still reflecting on what I’d call my proudest accomplishment, because I feel I haven’t yet made the impact I ultimately aim for. If I had to pick, it would be the moments where I’ve been able to help others grow — personally or professionally — and then see them succeed from guidance or support I gave. Those moments stand out as the most rewarding.

Looking forward to connecting, exchanging ideas, and learning from all of you here.

Alberto Expósito Marín PMO Director & Project/Program Manager| Viscofan Granada, Granada, Spain

Hello everyone,

I'm Alberto Expósito Marín, an experienced Global Head of IT PMO and Senior Program/Project Manager in the IT sector. I'm excited to join this community and connect with fellow project management professionals! As a PMP® certified professional, I'm currently on my way to achieving my PMI-PMOCP® certification, which I'm really excited about and thoroughly enjoying.

When I was growing up, I always imagined myself building and optimizing things, whether it was tinkering with electronics or figuring out how complex systems worked. Little did I know, that curiosity would lead me right into the world of project management!

Speaking of tools, I'm genuinely fascinated by how AI can rapidly improve the PMO profession by providing more customized and faster services to customers. It's an area I'm keen to explore and discuss more, and I'm always open to discussing various PMIS solutions that best fit a PM community's needs.

What initially drew me to project management, and what keeps me here, is the immense satisfaction of building high-performing PMOs from scratch, mentoring and teaching professionals, and ultimately helping organizations mature their project management capabilities. It's all about enhancing our PM organization's customers' lives by identifying their pains and transforming processes to add value.

My proudest accomplishment, both professionally and personally, combines a significant project with a valuable life lesson. Professionally, I'm incredibly proud of leading the implementation of a unified project management delivery system, and also setting up the entire OPM (Organizational Project Management) framework within the organization, transforming it from a very green stage to a mature delivery organization that aligned all project delivery with company strategic goals.

I'm eager to connect with many of you, especially colleagues focused on PMO transformations and innovations. On a practical note, I'm currently in a transition phase and actively looking for new opportunities where I can continue to build and lead impactful PMOs.

Looking forward to engaging with you all! Best, Alberto

IBRAHIM AL OBAID Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Hello everyone,

My name is Ibrahim Alobaid, from Saudi Arabia. I currently work as an HR Business Partner with a strong focus on project management and facilitation.

Since I was young, I’ve always been passionate about understanding people and building systems that make work smoother and more meaningful. This passion naturally led me into the field of human resources and project management.

Some of my favorite project management tools and techniques are Agile practices, risk management frameworks, and quality improvement methods. I’m also very interested in exploring how artificial intelligence will reshape project management in the near future.

What keeps me engaged in this field is the balance between technical tools and the human side of projects—helping teams not only deliver results but also grow through the process.

One of the things I’m proud of is authoring an Arabic book on project management tools and techniques, aiming to make knowledge more accessible in our region. I also run a website dedicated to simplifying management concepts in Arabic for students, professionals, and researchers.

Looking forward to learning from your experiences and sharing ideas together.

Warm regards,
Ibrahim

Catherine Thiiri Technical Project/Program Manager| SAFARICOM PLC Nairobi, Kenya

Hi Everyone,
I’m Kate, an engineer by training with 7 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, now working as a Digital IT/Technical Project Manager. In my current role, I lead the delivery of diverse IT projects; ranging from cloud migrations, system upgrades, financial services, infrastructure, big data & ML, compliance, and more recently, AI-driven initiatives.

My journey into project management began a little over two years ago. While working in fiber optic transmission support, I realized that beyond solving technical problems, I wanted to understand the bigger picture; how technology aligns with business goals, from planning and implementation to delivery, commercialization, and customer value. That curiosity led me into project management, where I enjoy having a bird’s-eye view of the entire process while also learning the people side of leadership through stakeholder engagement and servant leadership.

One of my proudest moments was successfully managing my very first end-to-end project; the digital dissemination of national examinations. Seeing students across the country access their results seamlessly on their phones was a deeply rewarding experience.

Outside of the technical aspects, I’ve always had a natural curiosity for problem-solving; ever since my childhood days of tinkering with FM radios and being fascinated by engineers in their yellow helmets. Today, that same curiosity fuels my drive to continuously learn, grow, and master the art of project management while also exploring opportunities across different industries.

Looking forward to learning, sharing, and connecting with fellow PMs in this community!
