Kate, glad to see you here.

My top 3 project management challenges at the moment are industry specific related to Construction:

1) Finding Skilled Trades - There is a significant shortage of skilled trades.
2) Doing precise estimates given the high level of uncertainlty in todays world.
3) Maintaining accurate schedules given the significant supply chain issues that still exist.

Things imporved in 2023 but not enough so I am hoping to see those challenges starting to ease more in 2024.

The top three skills that I am aiming to develop in the coming year are Interpersonal soft skills:

1) Emotional Intelligence
2) Active Listening
3) Public Speaking

Cheers!

I can't think of any examples of "precise estimates given the high level of uncertainty." It is a major source of pain, though. What are some other kinds of work where uncertainty is high? Finance, maybe? Insurance? Maybe we can learn from them.

Problems -
1. Organizational change management
2. Keeping vendors and team members accountable
3. Finding ways to employ AI effectively

To work on
1. Emotional Intelligence
2 . Applications of AI, especially at modest cost and general applicability
(3. If I make good progress on 1 & 2, that's enough - I will be a happy PM)
