Claudia, this is a great question. However, given the nature of what we do as consultants, we haven't yet started preparing for this but would be very interested to see what other professionals and organizations are doing!
We are considering the integration of GenAI to our PM operations. Considerations for decision include need, purpose, cost, benefits, and ROI. Majority opinion is skewed in favor of GenAI integration.

Not even close to ready yet, primarily because we lack the critical prerequisite of sufficient data governance. We would struggle with the 3Ps (people, policies, procedures) aspects. Assuming that in place, we would then struggle to select between using publicly-available tools (doubtful given the costs to sanitize data and a generally risk-averse culture) and the budget outlay required for secure, custom solution. Assuming all the above were settled, I would still be reticent to draw conclusions from what data is available due to data cleanliness issues. This is a long road organizationally, for sure.

Right now I am educating myself to understand the Potential of Gen AI in program and portfolio management. I am most interested in understanding how Gen AI can automate tasks, provide insights, and enhance decision-making. I am also evaluating my current project and portfolio management processes to identify areas where Gen AI can add value. Specifically, I am looking for repetitive tasks, data analysis needs, and decision-making processes that can be improved with AI as a place to start.

Yes, we’ve introduced a structured approach to assess our readiness for integrating Generative AI. This includes reviewing data governance for privacy and compliance, evaluating each use case for business value and ethical impact, and ensuring our teams are trained to use Gen AI responsibly. We focus on practical, high-impact applications that align with our workflows, rather than chasing trends.
I haven't started yet to work with Gen Ais inside projects, but I am willing to go and see what results I can get.
