Hi Claudia,
We have not really begun to use AI that much in my company. The most that probably occurs is Read.AI meeting notes and people using a GPT model for writing emails/memos.

Claudia and everyone, your discussion is very interesting. I can see the value of AI/ML to companies and PMO shops, but I'm wondering about the government contracting/consulting space. In the very small companies I've been in, AI is merely used to keep pace with the government's bid and proposal process. Until requirements to use AI start showing up as part of the contracts, or an expertise in AI is specifically called out as part of a Request for Proposal, small companies will be hard pressed to adopt something new. And even then, when required, they will probably outsource by hiring a consultant or create a teaming agreement with an AI consulting company for the expertise.

Because we work in the public sector, the use of AI within our agency requires additional security protocols and review cycles with the Office of Information Technology. Regardless, we are in the very early stages of forming our approach. Our first stage is to experiment with the use of AI for writing / editing content. An investment in a custom LLM is not necessary at this time; however, we are working on data cleanup efforts to ensure when we are ready, we will have good quality data to pull from.

We are a small business that provides trainings courses to the Military. We are considering a first use case for AI, likely using a RAG model, to sift through open-ended student satisfaction survey results from the past 5 years as we look to re-fresh the curriculum.

I would consider what are my data sources, and how to ensure data quality.
as for protocols, I would consider how to ensure the data is being processed as planned and to maintain hardware uptime

Given the nature of our work as consultants we haven't yet prepared anything, but I am very interested to explore how we can do that so when the time comes, I can do it
