I'm reviewing CVs for a contract senior PM role and have a candidate who says they are CITPM certified and in brackets "PMP Project Management Professional certification". I'm trying to validate the claim that they are either PMP certified or that PMI somehow recognizes CITPM as equivalent. A search on the PMI certification registry doesn't turn up anything for the individual.
The Certification in IT Project Management (CITPM) is administered by the Singapore Computer Society and accredited by National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University. I can't find anything on the CITPM site or on PMI.org linking the two.
Am I missing something or is this individual making an inaccurate claim?
It has a longer experience requirement than the PMP, but I don't see any actual educational requirement in project management except and unspecified degree or diploma requirement. I would not consider them equivalent, especially since IT project management is specific to one technical domain whereas the PMP is domain agnostic.
Perhaps if the job posting specified desired PM credentials like PMP or similar, they were trying to indicate similarity without equivalence. Saving Changes...

Thanks for the input everyone. Suspect the candidate is trying to demonstrate they have formal credentials, though they have framed it to suggest equivalency. Saving Changes...
