Generative AI has far exceeded my expectations. When I first experimented with earlier models, the experience felt tedious and limited. But as the technology has evolved, it’s become an integral part of my day-to-day work as a project manager.
Due to organizational restrictions, I primarily use it as a virtual assistant—helping me stay on top of communications across multiple projects and contractors. I’ve also found it invaluable for brainstorming, problem solving, risk mitigation planning, and researching for strategic initiatives.
The biggest challenge has been navigating institutional apprehension around adoption. I see tremendous potential to leverage generative AI not just for administrative efficiency, but for deeper, more substantive aspects of our work. Through this, I’ve learned how essential it is for leadership to remain open to innovation and forward-thinking—so we don’t get left behind.
