Unexpected GenAI wins came from small, data-driven pilots—delivering faster documentation, better reporting, and productivity gains—while the main challenges were data quality, governance, and change management; ultimately, success depended more on data readiness and adoption than the model itself. We have recently began using Generative AI to generate detailed scopes of work for construction projects. The more we learn about prompt engineering the better these scopes will be, provided we are thorough in our prompting AI has been yielding levels of details we need. Sometimes, AI models will make assumptions in output results so AI results are looped through the human project manager for review and clarification prior to being published.

Yes, I have seen meaningful success using Generative AI in project management, but the biggest factor is the data you feed into it and how carefully you handle that data. One of the key considerations is ensuring that company-sensitive information is not exposed while still deriving useful insights. The approach that worked for me was to first collect relevant project data and segment it into common themes—such as recurring delivery challenges, estimation gaps, dependency issues, and stakeholder communication patterns. After team meetings and retrospectives, I reviewed these patterns with the team to understand what could be improved if similar scenarios occurred again. Instead of overwhelming the system with too many inputs, I focused on identifying the common and high-impact patterns while still paying attention to exceptional cases, because those tend to reappear and cannot be ignored. Once these structured insights were prepared, I used Generative AI to analyze the patterns and simulate possible approaches or recommendations. Often it takes multiple prompts to arrive at useful insights—the key is providing clear context and being explicit about the outcome you are trying to achieve. Some challenges I encountered were: • Ensuring sensitive company data was not directly exposed to external AI systems • Structuring the data in a way that AI could interpret effectively • Iterating prompts multiple times to refine the output The benefits, however, were significant: • Faster identification of recurring project risks and delivery bottlenecks • Better preparation for similar scenarios in future projects • Improved decision support during planning and retrospectives In my experience, Generative AI works best as a thinking partner for project managers. With the right context, structured data, and clear intent, it can help surface insights that might otherwise take much longer to identify. Saving Changes...

Gen AI can enhance efficiency, but it all it depends on the human insights in the process. Saving Changes...
Yes, I’ve experienced some surprisingly impactful successes using generative AI in my projects, especially in areas related to research, content development, and program design. For instance, while working on initiatives like my E-waste education and sustainability programs, I found that Gen AI helped me quickly structure detailed proposals, training modules, and awareness content that would normally take much longer to develop. What stood out was how data especially structured inputs like course outlines, community needs, and project goals guided the AI to produce highly relevant and usable outputs. However, I did face issues , like ensuring accuracy, avoiding generic responses, and refining outputs to reflect local Nigerian contexts . Despite this, the benefits have been significant: increased efficiency, improved clarity in communication, Saving Changes...
