Actually, I have already started using AI in my work, but there is still a lot to learn before reaching a professional level where AI can truly add significant value. Achieving that level may take time; however, PMI’s focus on Generative AI has opened our eyes to the potential of this technology. Without any doubt, we are entering a new era of technological advancement. Anyone who is new to AI will naturally face some challenges, especially since many companies restrict the use of AI tools because of data security concerns. However, this does not necessarily mean that AI should be completely prevented. Instead, organizations should explore safe and controlled ways to benefit from the technology without facing legal or contractual consequences. For example, sensitive information can be protected by hiding company logos, client names, and confidential project data before using AI tools. There are also many other practical methods that employees can learn and apply to reduce the risk of data leakage or breaches. Yes, it feels like I discover something new and unexpected every time I use GenAI. I recently discovered how it can create modern imagery for product concepts and app development. I'm an MBA student that has a lot of projects around business concepts and models. If I upload a custom logo and brand style guide that I've created and a concept for an app, it can produce a prototype that is presentation ready and doesn't need any other iterations. Here is a sample prompt that I recently used: "Can you please design an app interface compatible with iphone 17 for Community Threads for P2P fundraising that is customer facing. include information on volunteers and traceability of the products. Use this logo throughout the screenshots."

I've used it a lot and I'm always on the lookout for new developments in the world of A.I. I'm currently working on an IT service governance project and generative has helped me a lot to develop policies that are more appropriate to the context, analyse large volumes of data and generate valuable insights. It's important for us as project managers to realise that there are a multitude of tools to support different sectors. As an example, I can cite Artificial Intelligence tools that enter meetings and automatically compile all the minutes with a full transcript (in minutes). This is a huge step forward, and if we take advantage of it, we'll reach the highest levels of efficiency.

The benefits that GenAI brings to me are synthesizing information from customer requests and analyzing the actions that need to be executed. I work in the IT offshore field with foreign customers, and the documents that customers provide are in languages different from our native language. Before GenAI, translation and analysis work was handled by a specialized department. With GenAI's assistance, synthesizing and analyzing documents has become faster and more convenient. AI also helps identify warnings, risks, and points that need clarification in customer requirements
I have had some unique and unexpected results with Gen AI. Specifically, when working with industry standard safety plan requirements. A customer requested a unique safety plan within 48 hours. I was able to get a 90% solution and tailored it to the work. I trained the team with the remaining 4 hours and successfully deployed.

After hearing to this session, I started using AI for some basic tasks and it turned out to be a great learning. I will start replicating the same for other tasks as well. It is very important to mention our objective or instructions tot he T, in order to get most accurate results.

Through some trial and error I've removed 10+ hours per week in administrative work (meeting minutes, RAID and action log management, etc) leveraging basic tools (call transcription and Claude or ChatGPT). Took some time to find the right combination of note structure and prompting to dial it in, but I would say it's been a great success. It's not 'no touch', but very low touch. AI is now my junior team member whose work I need to review...but I'm not doing the work now.
I've moved on to drafting of presentations/project update content and have started finding good value there as well. It's cutting the prep time in half for steerco level presentations and to less than a few minutes for recurring weekly updates.
My recommendation would be to refine prompts that get you what you want and then convert them into reusable skills. Been very successful for me. Saving Changes...
