In a new report available on PMI's AI Resource Hub, the PMI community shares their perspective on AI adoption in project management. Over 2,300 project management professionals from 129 countries participated in the survey for this chapter-led research project.
-Which of the findings resonated with you the most? Why? -Were there any insights in the report that surprised you or caught your attention? -What topics would you like to see explored in future reports, discussions, or surveys? -How can the PMI community collaborate to further investigate or address any issues raised in the report? This is an excellent report, Laura - tons to absorb and digest!
- It wasn't a surprise that Data Collection & Reporting, Performance Monitoring, Project Time Management & Scheduling were top areas impacted by AI and that Stakeholder Management was not.
- What was a surprise was that Project Communication and Budgeting were not impacted significantly by AI across most regions as the former is clearly a great opportunity for use of Gen AI tools like ChatGPT and the latter should be improved by the use of focused financial AI solutions
- It would be interesting to get details from respondents on their personal wins & challenges with the use of AI tools as the report mostly looks at things from an organizational perspective.

I think Prj Communications here is intended as the communication plan (frequency, type of communication, stakeholders to be involved and so on). I tried AI to formulate messages to be included in reports, and it works fine to me.

HI Laura,
I found it surprising that Budgeting hasn't been impacted by AI. Financial analysis and AI have already helped me on several significant projects. I would like to see more industry breakdowns of this information - what industries and top areas impacted would be interesting to see. I also love the PMI AI Bot. Fun!

Laura Schofield: Great report, thanks for sharing. There is a lot to grasp and I definitely will go through it in details but in skimming through the report, here are my initial comments:
1) I do find it interesting that Healthcare wasn't one of the Top 3 Industries using AI Solutions because AI is big in Healthcare, now more than ever.
2) Microsoft and META are huge on AI so was surprised not to see them in the list of major worldwide competitors.
3) Under Risks with AI in Project Management (Page 16), I wonder why Ethical Risks were not identified as one of the major risks.
4) Like my fellow colleagues, I am also surprised that AI had low impact on Budgeting and Communications.
5) I do like the "Case Study Collection" initiative on Page 92 and believe this will add tremendous value and provide great insights.
6) For future reports, I would like to see more breakdown per industry, per country, per region. Saving Changes...
In addition to the feedback I'd provided initially, it would have been great to get a sense as to what are the top AI tools being used to specifically help PMs do their jobs more effectively or efficiently taking into account confidentiality and data security concerns.
While tools like ChatGPT can help with generic prompts, unless an organization invests in an enterprise version (which they are unlikely to do just for PM use cases), real data cannot be uploaded or pasted in to prompts. There are open source tools which (I'm assuming) could be hosted within an organization's firewall, but that requires internal development expertise and IT department support to implement.

I think is going to create the same confusion in the market because the misuse of terms. It br data-cke-eol="1"have happened with things like agile. The topic is about generative AI, not about AI. Saving Changes...
