Vishnu -

Best depends on your learning style and your starting point (knowledge-wise).

If you are 90% there and are fine with a self-study approach, then a good quality self-study guide might be the best choice.

If you don't know how much you need to learn, starting off with a quality (paid) practice exam to give you a baseline score might be the right answer.

And for others, a prep course (either in-person or virtual, on demand or live) might work well.

Hi Vishnu,
I took the long route which is how I learn best and studied section by section. As I am not a native English speaker I found it very tricky to get beyond the words and create a robust understanding. To help me through the exam I created a cheat sheet for each module and trained myself to re-produce it quickly. Then at the exam, that was the first task to be able to keep things straight and answer the questions and calculate the various problems. I work in US Gov't setting and are not actively using the PM lingo or the PMP strategies as such, although we are slowly heading that way. Best of luck.

Vishnu, here is what I suggest you do:

1) Read through the Exam Content Outline (ECO), PMBOK 6th Edition (Including the Agile Extension as lots of questions are Agile / Hybrid based) and then read the PMBOK 7th edition. I believe both editions are relevant to the exam.

2) Go through Rita Mulchay’s Exam Prep book, I think its 11th edition now, but double check. This is one of the best resources for exam preparation.

3) After you are done, purchase the Simulator Package through PM Prep Cast and practice as much as you can. This is a great simulator and resource for questions that mimic the real exam.

4) If you want a course to fulfill your 35 Hours then check Joseph Phillips on Udemy. He is a PMI ATP and great instructor or check out PMI's self-paced course in the PMI Store.

Hope this helps - Let me know if you have further questions - Good Luck!

Hi Vishnu Prasad , and thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. I earned my PMP last month and I'm honored to join the PMP ranks! I posted it about it on LinkedIn:

Like Kiron Bondale says, knowing how you learn is key. I needed to keep switching up my methods to keep me locked into studying. I would have taken an ATP course but by the time I scheduled my exam, I was on a schedule that bridged the holidays so I opted for self-study. Some of the resources I loved:
- Study Hall; I read every piece of content and did as many of the quizzes as I could. There are also a lot of games to help one study.
- I bought Rita's Book months before I scheduled the exam. I cut out the chapters and took 1-2 with me when I travelled so I could study on airplanes:) There are great quizzes at the end of each chapter.
- I created my own playlists in YouTube and added videos when I wanted to learn more about a topic
- I read the Agile Practice Guide a couple times, and David McLachlan's youtube video of Agile Practice Guide questions was as good as reading the Guide:)
- Scott Payne's PMP Prep Podcast kept me company on daily walks. Bite sized topics!
- Varun from EduhubSpot's test day preparation and test prep questions were super helpful. I planned my test day based upon his advice.

Understand the materials to the best of your ability and remember that many questions will seem to have multiple correct answers but only one will be the best solution. Read the questions carefully and think about the solutions for a few seconds.

I also found taking many practice exams made a huge difference when I took my PMP certification. Good luck!
