Time for a completely NON-AI related post!

Reflect on the movies and TV shows you've seen and share the one quote that you recall that is PM-related.

Mine is "I love it when a plan comes together" by Lieutenant Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith from the 80's The A-Team TV series. It is a good reminder that even when we are dealing with the most volatile and complex projects, planning as a journey (rather than a destination) is still necessary!

Hi Kiron,

Thank you for doing what I was not able to do—create a non-AI post ;)

And by the way, congratulations on reaching 10k contributions!

Although I attempted, I could not recall a movie quote I could assign to project management, so I researched and found the following that provides a simple roadmap to “project mayhem.”

From: A series of unfortunate events
- Parts of the plan were unplanned; that’s the plan. I mean, you don’t want to overplan a plan.

Hi Kiron. Mine is a quote from one of my favorite movies from 2010 "Inception", by Christopher Nolan. Dom Cobb said:

"What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? An idea. Resilient... highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed, fully understood - that sticks, right in there somewhere".

An idea sets the foundation for any project. In project management, an idea typically occurs from a perceived need or problem that someone aims to address.

Hello Kiron Bondale - what a great question! One simple quote that comes to mind for me is "Houston, we have a problem...." from the movie, "Apollo 13." It demonstrated the agility and actions the astronauts displayed: leadership; risk management and teamwork, all the while in a moment of complex crisis, that eventually saved their lives.

Kiron Bondale you touched on an area that is of high interest to me. I love quotes so here are two of my favorite movie quotes:

1) "The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself" from the movie "The King's Speech".

2) "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts." from the movie "The Darkest Hour".

Both quotes speak about the Interpersonal Skills of a PM and how reslilient we should be as leaders!

Kimberly Whitby: How do you like those? :-)

My favorite PM movie quote is the entire scene in Guardians of the Galaxy (the first movie) when they decide how to stop Ronan.

They all argue, and then they ask Starlord what percent of a plan he has, and he says, "12%."

The whole thing lands differently when you're a PM and have sat through a similar planning meeting.

This has come up in multiple projects I have run and even with multiple moves and changes within organizations as I work through changes for multiple customers.

In our agile culture of project management, the best backlogs need to consider changes of the customer you are working with, therefore, the following quote is something I often use and subscribe to:

“Improvise, Adapt and Overcome!” from Clint Eastwood's character in Heartbreak Ridge. It speaks to the agile method of being flexible, honoring changes and overcoming obstacles in the lifecyle of a project.
