Mark, the short answer is No. Being a PMP is not a prerequisite to the PMI-CP so if you're working in the cosntruction field, and looking for a construction specific credential, then PMI-CP is a good fit but if you'e looking for a more general PM credential (not industry specific), then PMP is definitely a good option.
