Currently I do resource costing and indexation in a .xls outside of MS Project.
Is there a way to build indexation of resource charges and costs into MSP on an annual basis.
e.g. increase costs and / or charges @ 3% per year for the duration of the project. Thanks

Yes, you can do this in the cost rate table associated with each work type resource. The explanation on how to do so is a bit involved, but I'd suggest looking for YouTube videos or online resources for setting different cost rates for a work type resource in MSP.

Richard, if I did understand you correctly, then yes, MPS does offer functionality to handle resource costs and rates changes over time, including indexation but as far as I am aware, it doesn't directly support automatic indexation based on a fixed percentage increase annually for the duration of the project. This would typically require custom scripting or third-party add-ins. I might be wrong but I believe it only allows for adjusting resource costs on a one-time basis or setting up cost escalation over time for individual resources.

MS Project does support variable rates over time using the Cost Rate tables. As far as I know it won't compute it automatically like if you were considering the time value of money based on interest rates, but you can set up multiple rate changes on different dates. If you only need yearly, it is not a lot of table entries.
