Yes, No doubt. I've worked in a project one year ago which was fully ai dependent. Before generative ai era, these types of project took year or couple of year to finish and we finished that project within 3 months only and able to close full project in 6 months. AI is another powerful tool to the PMs. It is the PMs who will use their experience to take help of AI to better project management
Some of the mundane tasks can be automated by AI, but, cannot make the PM less valuable
A PM who uses AI capability tools will become a better version of themselves

I just wonder how it is going to work without a project manager.
The project team members self, or collaboratively will have to:
1. Ask AI (as the pm) what, how, where and by when to do all the required work.
2. Prompt engineering, with their limited project management knowledge.
3. Verification of the scope, cost and schedule plans.
4, Interpretation of project status and progress information.
5. Decide on action plan for rectification of the deviations from plans.
6. Identify scope changes imposed by the client.
And the list continue.

In my opinion there's no easy way out if you want to differentiate yourself and prove your value. Prompt engineering and AI should be considered as another tool to augment one's approach for efficiency and distinction.
