I cannot authoritatively speak on the commoditisation of project management skills, but one thing is for sure: PMs who master it will differentiate themselves and command higher value in the market place.
I believe, when used correctly, AI tools can create efficiencies within project management and will help ensure project managers are staying up to date with the latest strategies, tools and methods. Saving Changes...
The continued adoption and advancements of AI will not replace PM skills, but will improve PM efficiencies. While some level of skill commoditization could occur, this should remain confied the relatively lower level skills. Over time, as PMs develop and share AI tools and skills, there is an opportunity for the PM community to come together and drive the adoption of more advanced skills for all PMs. Saving Changes...

Adopting prompt engineering will definitely create value for PMs by reducing the ambiguity of AI responses. Clarity and structure of prompts differentiates the types of responses. Project Managers who learn and master the art of prompt engineering gain a great advantage.

I see AI in construction project management as more than just a way to automate routine work. Its real value could be helping Project Managers make better decisions by analysing schedules, costs, risks, and project data to spot issues early. GenAI can also help turn complex information into clear updates for different stakeholders. Rather than replacing Project Managers, I think AI can act as a second pair of eyes, helping them anticipate problems, explore options, and manage projects more effectively.
