The circular economy is a production model that involves reusing, repairing, renewing, and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible. ¿Have you encouraged the use of this model for your projects?

Hi Verónica, thanks for raising this topic! It's not one that I am very familiar with, but I found this ProjectManagement.com webinar that dives into the concept in the context of project management: https://www.projectmanagement.com/videos/7...professionals-. It's a good starting place to learn more!

I'd definitely be interested in hearing about how project professionals in the community are applying this concept to their projects.

We partner with our customers and regulators to test and prove more environmentally friendly products via a program called ecoDemonstrator. One simple example is using tiles of carpet made from recycled materials rather than large rolls of carpet so that local damaged areas may be replaced instead of much larger sections of material.

For individual revenue generating projects, it can be difficult to justify that kind of development in the financial business case, but a company investing budget at a program level specifically for advancing environmental sustainability makes it easier to approve those types of concepts rather than requiring to buy their way into a larger work statement.

Another example is a brewery/restaurant I recently toured in Costa Rica where sustainability is a top national priority. As part of their ongoing expansion projects, they are adding a vegetable garden which uses the byproducts of the brewing process. Rather than water and beer sludge going to waste, it helps produce food for the kitchen.
