Validating and checking outputs is critical when working with AI systems like Generative AI. Such validation approaches may include establishing clear criteria, implementing strong testing protocols, and continuous refinement.

In your experience with AI, what are some best practices for ensuring the results you receive are accurate, relevant, and aligned with your original goals?

Be specific about what you need, including the goal and any limits, so the results actually fit what you're after. Check the key points against reliable sources, since AI can produce answers that sound right but aren't accurate. If the response misses the mark, give clear feedback and adjust until it aligns with your objective. For anything important, have it explain the reasoning or provide sources rather than accepting the output at face value.

The first shot usually comes back kinda generic or misses what I actually need. Once I go back and tighten it up, add the specifics, the constraints, and exactly what format I want, then it gets a lot better. That extra pass is what keeps it on track instead of just giving me something that sounds okay but doesn’t really work.
