In my experience, refining a prompt can completely transform the quality of the output. The biggest difference comes from providing context, defining the audience, specifying the desired format, and explaining the objective rather than simply asking a question. For example, instead of asking AI to "summarize a meeting," I might ask it to create executive-level meeting minutes with decisions, risks, action items, and stakeholder impacts. The result is far more useful and aligned with my needs. I've found that prompt refinement is less about telling AI what to do and more about teaching it how to think about the problem. The more context and clarity I provide, the closer the output gets to something I can use immediately with minimal rework.
