With Generative AI, iteratively refining and optimizing prompts can lead to better AI-generated results. This may involve adjusting the specificity or clarity of the prompt to increase relevance and accuracy of results.

What examples do you have of how improving a prompt drastically changed the output quality?  What specific changes did you make that led to the improvement?

When I give prompt, the answer most likely differs from my expectations, than I clerify, give examples, give directions, "teach" and eventually get what I need
Refining and clarifying information in project planning and management is crucial for enhancing decision-making, as clear information enables project managers to make informed choices that minimize risks and ensure alignment with goals. Improved communication is another benefit, as clarity fosters better interaction among stakeholders, reducing misunderstandings and ensuring everyone is on the same page. Additionally, refining inputs allows teams to identify and allocate resources more efficiently, preventing waste and ensuring that critical tasks receive appropriate attention. Effective risk management is facilitated by precise information, which helps identify potential risks early and allows teams to develop proactive mitigation strategies. Clarifying project requirements also helps define the scope, preventing scope creep and keeping the project focused. Moreover, well-defined metrics and criteria enhance performance measurement, enabling better tracking of progress and timely adjustments. Clear information is vital for managing stakeholder expectations and fostering collaboration, which are essential for project success. Ultimately, the process of refining and clarifying information leads to more effective planning, execution, and control of projects. This comprehensive approach significantly contributes to overall project success.

Original Prompt: “Describe a dog.”
Refined Prompt: “Describe a medium-sized, golden retriever puppy playing in a sunny park.”
Impact: The refined prompt gives a clear image with specific details, resulting in a more accurate and vivid description compared to the vague original prompt.

I can only say that we have always to learn more how to refine prompt to have better responses.

Admittedly the first few times I worked with AI, I had no idea what I was doing with prompts. I did learn that refining my prompt and being much more clear about what I was asking, the feedback continued to improve. It really is just like any form of communication, you need to be very clear & concise and provide the detail about what you are asking and why!

I think one of the best ways to refine a promt is by giving it a structure according to what we expect to get as an answer, in my case I usually apply:
Role: Specialist in the subject we are interested in, for example Project manager.
Expected Outcome: Describe the type of outcome we expect to achieve.
Expected Outcome Features: More detailed specifications of the expected outcome.
Context: It is the environment of the situation in which the expected result is located

Among the other frameworks for structured prompts, the one I like the most is CO-STAR: Context, Objective, Style, Tone, Audience, Response.

I also share an example of a prompt aligned with COSTAR:
(C) You are a Project Manager in a startup company that develops software for medical analysis
(O) Your task is to develop the project charter document related to a new software to track patient history
(S) Ensure clarity and coherence throughout the whole document
(T) Use a formal and positive tone
(A) The target audience are all stakeholders that will be involved in the project and can identify practical advice about the project and the outcomes
(R) Provide a document with separate chapters easy to understand

Hi everyone, I'm not familiar with GenAI, I'm actually trying to learn something about GenAI, but it's clear that more interaction will provide better results.
