With Generative AI, iteratively refining and optimizing prompts can lead to better AI-generated results. This may involve adjusting the specificity or clarity of the prompt to increase relevance and accuracy of results.

What examples do you have of how improving a prompt drastically changed the output quality?  What specific changes did you make that led to the improvement?

In my experience with GenAI, refining a prompt can dramatically transform the output—from vague or generic responses to highly relevant, context-specific insights. A small adjustment in tone, structure, or detail often shifts the results from surface-level suggestions to strategic, actionable content. The quality of the prompt truly determines the quality of the outcome, making prompt engineering an essential skill for leveraging AI effectively.

I would like to include GenAI in my daily work, but to implement it and learn it effectively it requires time, and I don't have time. My company is doing something but only for customers at the moment. I use only AI for some small task, but we are not taking enough advantage of it.

I've found that by breaking a complex task into smaller components through prompt chaining, the output is greatly enhanced and the response is more specific.

Following the CREATE framework, I believe the most crucial aspect is to describe things specifically and clearly. It shouldn't be too lengthy, and executing tasks in segments is more efficient. This approach allows for the perfect generation of the information I need.

Have to keep practicing, pretty new to using GenAI in a professional setting. If what you receive from your prompt isn't exactly what you wanted it is great to be able to keep refining it, clarifying your expectations as you go.

Refining AI prompts pushes us to think more and communicate more effectively. How we communicate with AI may be an indication of how we communicate with people.

The more detailed we are and input we provide in our communication reduces error, whether it is with people or AI.

In my experience, there are two practical techniques to improve the quality of GenAI outputs:
- Progressive refinement - clarify your request step by step, ask follow-up questions, and address what seems unclear or off-track.
- Switch roles - take the GenAI output, rework or expand it yourself, and then ask the AI to critique or optimize it based on your revision. This often leads to results that better match the intended purpose.
These approaches combine the strength of human judgment with GenAI’s ability to iterate - helping align the output more closely with project goals.

There are framewoks to create prompt. This is part of the Prompt Desing discipline. Those that gave me and the initiatives where I was included are:R-T-F (Role-Task-Format), T-A-G (Task, action, goal), B-A-B (Before, after, bridge), C-A-R-E (context, action, result, example), R-I-S-E (role, input, steps, expectations).
Definite value add here, I know more about the additional AI prompts to leverage and base by prompts on.

Keeping AI prompts clear and concise significantly improves the quality of results, as explained in the session, we can break a large problem into smaller manageable tasks and make it easier to obtain accurate and relevant outputs aligned with the goals of the project.
