I was asked to create an AI adoption strategy for a government entity. Initially, I requested to meet the team before accepting the role to define what was required. However, they informed me that it was a six-month assignment and that I couldn't meet the team before accepting the offer. Due to this, I declined the offer. Do you think I made the right decision in declining the offer? I know it's a good opportunity, but I felt uncertain because I didn't know what I was getting into.
Saving Changes...
A lot depends on your circumstance and how important a contract like this is to your future aspirations. In general, I would support not proceeding with an opportunity if the employer is unwilling to answer reasonable requests such as meeting the team as it does make you wonder what they have to hide and whether there is a significant issue that you would only become aware of once you were contractually bound.
