All four quadrants of Goleman's EQ model come into play when engaging with stakeholders for decision making or for addressing conflict.

If we are not aware of our own emotions and able to channel them appropriately we risk an amygdala-hijack which can make a conflict much worse. If we are unable to empathize with others or to effectively build relationships with them it might be very challenging to gain buy in for a decision or to find win-win solutions through a conflict.
