I work for a more traditional company that functions more as a waterfall approach than Agile.  There isn't much career growth available at my current employer.  I am wondering what certifications or what knowledge would be best for career advancement to another company besides ACP?
I already plan to deep dive into AI, but looking for the most valuable item to add to my resume in the next 10 months.

Please include the "why" with your response, please.  This will help my decision process!
Currently running a PMO in an IT department, though my job title is just Project Manager, and doesn't exactly align with my daily work. I oversee several projects from tracking to strategic alignment based on CIO's vision.  Unfortunately, I have little to no involvement in the financial/budgeting side of the projects/PMO.

Thank you in advance for your comments!

Sheri, my recommendation is to chose a certification that complements your career path and goals. From the brief summary you provided, I believe an business analysis credential would be useful for you. Check CBAP through IIBA. Business Analysis and Project Management go hand in hand and are more important these days than ever. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the reply. I will look into it. I was more focused on PMI certifications and would like to "show" knowledge of running and improving/maturing a PMO as this is the experience I have over the past 7 years.

Really wondering if any of the other PMI certifications add value to one's career, and if so, what ones add the most value after already achieving PMP?

Sheri, if you're focused on PMOs them PMO-CP credential would be a good fit for you. As for your other question, all PMI do add value but they add value differently to different people because it all depends on ones career path and goals.

On a last note, my advise would be to diversify and not put all your eggs in one basket. Good Luck!

Sheri -

The challenge with most certifications other than the PMP is that if you don't have sufficient meaningful experience to accompany them, it won't be given a lot of weight by hiring managers or recruiters.

My suggestion would be to try to identify companies where you would like to work and see what kinds of qualifications they are looking for from their PM staff.

Related to PMI, I am PMP, PMI-PBA, PMI-ACP. Each time I decide to spend time, effort and money I made my own research about future market demands. If you ask me, the certification that can complement PMP is PMI-PBA because in this way you have end-to-end process covered. If you like to start the journey in agile approach then I think is better to consider a related certification not belonging to the PMI just in case you like to be ready for future market demands.
