Calling all project management pros!

Exciting news - starting today, 20 December 2024, you can help shape the future of project management by participating in PMI's Draft Comment Period (DCP) for the PMBOK® Guide – Eighth Edition.

This is the most data-driven update yet, designed with your input in mind!

The DCP runs for 30 days, closing on January 19, 2025, and it’s your chance to weigh in on updates like emerging trends, updated terminology, enhanced processes, expanded principles, and more.

Plus, this edition includes dedicated appendices on Project Management Offices, Artificial Intelligence, and Procurement. Don’t miss out—head to publiccomment.pmi.org starting today, December 20 to review the draft and share your thoughts!*

We can’t wait to hear from you.

* Please note that feedback is only open to PMI Members

The volunteer team has made a number of worthwhile changes. Reducing the number of principles, adding back the ITTOs, reducing the processes and rationalizing their naming, acknowledging the criticality of the Sponsor role, creating a focus on tailoring and "fit for purpose" governance are all welcome!

My biggest issue (which I've shared via the feedback mechanism) is the adaptive content is too Scrum-centric and does not acknowledge other options such as a lean continuous flow approach which does not require the use of sprints or iterations.

Thank you for the exciting update, Caitlin! I’m eager to engage in the Draft Comment Period for the PMBOK® Guide – Eighth Edition. Incorporating emerging trends like Artificial Intelligence and focusing on Project Management Offices are vital for addressing the challenges and opportunities of modern project management. With an evolving industry landscape, we must stay ahead of new terminologies, enhanced processes, and expanded principles. I’m excited to contribute my insights and help shape this critical resource for the future of project management. It’s empowering to see PMI harness the expertise of the community in this transformative process.
