As PMI's comment form does not accept graphics and because the majority of our clients are English as Second Language, all my comments/suggestions are published as graphics rather than words, and have been posted in Academia.

Keep in mind that I am NOT an academic, but a PRACTITIONER, with first-hand experience as both and OWNER and a CONTRACTOR, were our own money is on the line if our projects "succeed" or "fail" and what I share are all TESTED and PROVEN "tools, techniques and methods".

The standard we use for anything we publish is it meets the 5 attributes of the Scientific Method. Compare that to the standard PMI has been using for years, which are "those practices used on MOST projects, MOST of the time", meaning at best, AVERAGE. These are the standards we urge PMI to adopt from this point forward. https://www.sciencing.com/five-characteris...d-10010518/

Here is my posting with my recommendations-

With over 20 years of experience in civil engineering and more than a decade of leading project planning and control efforts, I’ve seen firsthand how time and cost performance often define a project’s success or failure.

The 8th Edition of the PMBOK® Guide introduces a more flexible and principle-based structure. While this is a welcome shift, I believe some critical, real-world challenges in schedule and cost management still need stronger focus—especially for professionals working in dynamic, high-pressure environments.

Key Observations:
1. Time Management Needs More Practical ToolsThe current approach simplifies schedule management but does not provide enough support for handling real-life complexities—like sudden delays, resource bottlenecks, or shifting dependencies.

→ Tools like Delay Analysis, Critical Chain, or advanced "What-If" planning would add real value for planners and decision-makers. Cost Management Lacks Time-Based Thinking
2. Cost control in the field isn’t just about staying within budget—it’s about delivering value at the right time. Concepts like Cost of Delay, Time-Value of Money, or investment trade-offs are missing but highly relevant to industries where late delivery means lost revenue.
3. Global Projects Need Local Adaptation
Every project is shaped by its local context—climate, regulations, labor conditions, and market prices. The guide would benefit from a Localization Toolkit to help teams adjust time and cost planning to their region or industry.

+ Suggestion for Future Development
I propose adding a practical model called “Integrated Time-Cost Value Analysis” that connects scheduling, budgeting, and value delivery in a unified approach. This could help project managers make smarter, faster decisions in today’s complex environments.

+ This reflection is based on my personal experience across infrastructure and construction projects. I fully acknowledge that project contexts vary, and I warmly welcome insights, alternative viewpoints, and deeper discussion from fellow professionals across industries.
Let’s continue learning from one another—and shaping the future of project management together.
