There is no such thing as an "IT" project. There are projects where some or most of the scope is technology-based, but there is such diversity of domain knowledge that you will need to focus on what you are targeting. For example, implementing a commercial off the shelf application requires very different knowledge than developing a software application from scratch and that is entirely different than configuring network infrastructure.
