I’d love to hear from my fellow PMs, especially on change management as it relates to organizational culture and AI-related projects.

Sommer Dandrade Moving to Agile in a new setup is tough but worth it. Leaders must support, teams need training, and culture must change. Start small, show quick wins, and keep improving. AI projects add more challenges, so teamwork and learning together are key to success.

Agile is an approach. Is totally independent of the organization strategy between project oriented or product oriented. By the way, the shift must be to solution oriented. You can use Agile, Lean or any other approach with any type of organizational strategy. Just to put this in the framework of the PMI you will find it inside the business analysis literature. To implement an approach you should start with an enterprise analysis to understand the organizational structure for moving it from the current state to the future desire state. The point here, based on what I understood from your comment, is to move portfolio decisions from project focus to solution (or product) focus. This is totally independent of the approach but if you select agile as the approach then Lean Portfolio Management will help your organization.

Make sure they understand the benefits of agile, because then you'll hopefully encounter less resistance.

Take it 1 step at time. Rather than implementing too many changes at once. Transfer to agile way, should also be considered as continuous increments effort. That way the team can acknowledge the value & also have time to adjust.
