Sometimes we find leaders reluctant to adopt BIM methology because from their point of view: Is expensive, complex and teams strugle to adopt it. as well as the compatibility with PMP process is hard (which i think the contrary) As a result, There is no gain in the project lifecyle. nor time reduction neither uncertainty reduction.

I think BIM offers great advantages of which reduction in change orders comes on top of the benefits.

Hi Rami. thanks for your response and I do agree with you. BIM offers great advantages along the project lifecycle. Nontheless, despite of showing many positive gains using BIM, some owners see it as a methodology where the cost/benefit ratio does not compensate the effort. How to change this mindset?

Indeed, the BIM tools has to be more present to show how important is the BIM in the project. By using the BIM tools in one of my project I have get the chance to save approximately 15% of the projects cost by clearly identifying the utilities clashes ahead of execution time.

also by visualizing the network to construction team they became extra vigilant for any work nearby their proposed scope of work.

also by using the sunchro or even navis to link the cost and schedule with C3D model and keep update the actual work vs. the planned will be great monitor and control the project in efficient way.

the best way to use BIM in the project and show how important is, by presenting the output immediately and ensure it’s worked with site team and teach all Project Team to open it and check it. (Collaboration)

I had lots of a-ha! moments when I started reading about. I still have, but they are now more of "of course that's how it's suppose to be" moments. BIM and PM follow similar processes, BIM comes as a support for the project management for it manages information. When you manage information properly, you can make informed decisions. As an example, the BEP/BIMxP must be part of the PMP, next to all other plans that are part of.
