What are the current qualification/education requirements to pursue a career in Project Management?

I'm currently looking to change jobs and would like to explore a career in project management, but have no prior qualifications/education in the field. I'm currently thinking about pursuing a Diploma of Project Management, but I'm concerned that employers will be looking for a higher level of education (i.e degree), or my future growth will be limited. My current role involves a lot of Project Management, so I have around 1.5 years of experience in PM to add to the Diploma. Do you think in your experience, this would be enough to pick up a role in the industry?

Rory -

Most employers look at experience, not at educational qualifications specifically in project management. I have worked with many PMs who had a college diploma in a field outside of project management and were still highly successful.

With the volume of experience you have, you'd be better served looking at the PMP certification as many recruiters and hiring managers will use the lack of that as a filter criteria for applicants.

I fully agree with Kiron Bondale here. Getting PMP certification is a must to get a new job. I agree with his comment about the diploma, too.
