How do you consciously manage the balance between standardizing processes to ensure consistency, governance, and quality… while still keeping the flexibility to adapt to the unique needs, culture, and context of each project?

When do you decide to strictly follow the framework, and when do you allow exceptions?

How do you ensure that flexibility doesn’t lead to chaos, and standardization doesn’t create rigidity?

What principles guide your decision when stakeholders demand customization that challenges the established process?”

Great questions, Fabian! I believe the key is finding a balance between consistency and flexibility. I stick to standardized processes when clear guidelines are needed, like for compliance or fixed deadlines. But for more dynamic projects, I allow flexibility to adapt to changing needs or unique situations.

To avoid chaos, I set clear guidelines for when deviations are acceptable, ensuring they’re well-documented and communicated. When stakeholders request customizations that challenge the process, I evaluate the risks and benefits, making sure any changes still align with the project's goals.

It's about being adaptable while keeping the core principles intact.
