Lack of marketing materials in PMI

I find it interesting that there's such a lack of marketing content here. Why is that?

I understand marketing is probably such a tiny fraction of industry professionals here, but is there just a general lack of interest in marketing content? Are PMPs in marketing as uncommon as it feels?

I'd be interested in reading more marketing-related content or hearing from marketing PM professionals.

H Brittany - can you list the marketing materials in which you are referring?

Kimberly -

I believe Brittany is looking for discussion threads related to project management in the marketing industry (e.g. campaigns, events).

Brittany, I believe there are "some" community members who work in the marketing industry but I'm not aware of any who are prolific posters within the top three discussion groups.

Kimberly Whitby, thanks for your replay.

I'm looking for materials like discussion threads, blogs, articles, etc. about applying project management-related practices within marketing teams.

I realize marketing can be a subset of other industries, and don't get me wrong, I still get a lot if helpful insights from other articles and threads on here.

But I guess my biggest questions are, do you think this is because PMP certifications are less common in marketing compared to other industries? Or maybe there's just not much demand or perceived need for those marketing-specific resources?

I was looking around for articles to read and couldn't find much related to my field, so I was hoping to better understand reasons why there hasn't been much developed yet. Perhaps I can just write some myself! But hoping that there's others out there who would benefit from it.

I've had the same issue, so I just started creating my own simple visuals and one-pagers based on what I needed. Sharing them with others often sparked good conversations too.

I've worked closely with Marketing departments for several years. Most of the time, what I've seen is Marketing Managers, Campaign Managers, and Event Coordinators/Managers fulfilling the PM function within Marketing while myself or another PM leads the overall project. They are less likely to be involved with PMI when the role does not require project management certification.

What type of content are you looking for?

What helped me in this case was using a programmable verification engine called Verify API to confirm user activity and engagement with our internal tools. It gave me cleaner data to present, which made it easier to push for support or resources. Maybe tying the lack of materials to measurable impact might help move things along.

It's a good insight to take into account in an online community. Marketing is included as part of many businesses, but there isn't a tendency that treat discussions purely of marketing itself.

Marketing is an essential component that contributes to the success of the projects. The art of attracting customers, making good transactions, and even fidelizing the clients for a long time is crucial to maintaining an enterprise.

A business that has good marketing projects will surely have a competitive advantage over its competitors.
