In my experience, nepotism can lower team morale and create unfair advantages for some employees. I’ve seen situations where talented people were overlooked because decisions were based on personal connections instead of performance. To handle this, I believe in having clear, transparent HR policies and fair evaluation systems. Everyone should have equal opportunities based on merit, not relationships.

Nepotism erodes trust and motivation if unchecked. The best prevention is process transparency, clear roles, standardized criteria, and review panels, making favoritism harder to justify. Fostering a speak-up culture where employees feel safe questioning unfair practices is also crucial. Culture and governance must work together; policies alone aren’t enough if people don’t feel empowered to uphold them.
