Kenneth - Are you asking for what are common constraints in major engineering projects? If so, beyond the usual time & finances, you could add::

  1. regulatory, sustainability, environmental and other "control" objectives
  2. stakeholder support
  3. materials and skilled labor
  4. technical limitations

Dear Kiron, Thank you for your answer. I will consider your response within my dissertation. Just for information, I am also busy applying for PR to immigrate to Canada within the next year or so. Regards.

Not sure if this is aligned with what you are asking for, but... in major engineering projects, the biggest constraints I’ve seen come from the intersection of scope, safety, and integration. The technical work is rarely the problem, it’s the regulatory timelines, supply-chain dependencies, and cross-discipline coordination that create real pressure. You’re constantly balancing design changes, long-lead materials, stakeholder approvals, and risk controls without slowing the project down. The key is tight alignment between engineering, construction, vendors, and governance so these constraints surface early instead of becoming last-minute blockers.

Hi All, Thank you for your responses. My question was aligned to the hypotheses that in all major engineering projects, there are multiple constraints and you were spot on with what you mentioned. I would like to do my Doctorate Thesis on Project Constraints in Major Engineering Projects. What I see from your answers are that all of you have extensive knowledge of these constraints in major engineering projects, so I would like to also include you in my study if in order?
