Great question!

For me, it was deciding about five years into my career to switch from a technical focus in the IT domain to project management. The "push" I received was from my boss at the time who felt it would increase my job satisfaction and would be a good fit.

An excellent question.

Looking back, the most important career decisions were not the ones that appeared most significant at the time. In fact, many felt uncertain, uncomfortable and carried no guarantee of success.

What made them transformational was not the decision itself, but the learning, perspective and opportunities that emerged from it.

This has taught me that career-defining decisions are often recognized only in hindsight.
We tend to remember the promotion, certification or career change, but the real turning point was usually the willingness to embrace uncertainty and grow beyond what felt familiar.

Perhaps the most valuable career decisions are not those that change our position, but those that expand our capacity to think, learn and adapt.
