Scope creep remains one of the biggest challenges in project management. In agile environments, how do you balance flexibility with scope control? What techniques have worked best for your teams to prevent uncontrolled scope expansion while still being responsive to changing requirements?

Hi Zeinab. It's worthwhile to recall a specific phrase from the Agile Manifesto. "Welcome changing requirements, even late in development." The authors of the Agile Manifesto ... did they have experience with scope creep?

Discipline around scope creep is undermined when we prioritize "adaptability."
"Adaptability" is in favor. Discipline is out-of-favor.

As the Agile Manifesto becomes more distant, teams lose sight of the origins (or early shapers) of "agile" work.

In agile work, "scope creep" can be the whole point.

"Knowing everything upfront" is also out-of-favor.
Getting scope right the first time is evidently something to avoid.
Scope stability requires coupling of authority and accountability, and many teams consciously uncouple authority and accountability.

I can suggest a technique to bring simplicity and transparency to responsiveness.

There are frameworks to ...

Minimize the cost to change expectations
Minimize the cost to realign on changed expectations

Is this helpful though? ... at least to illuminate why changing requirements is intrinsic to agile work?
