Hello,

I need a quick help to understand and clarify this chart for Agile EVM that appears on PMI Standard for Agile Practice, 2017 edition, Page 69, Figure 5-6. Earned Value in an Agile Context.

Something does not appear right in the labels and the legend. Where "projected progress" is labelled as "Earned Value"; "projected spend - as actual cost"; "Spend - as Planned Value", "Scope Built" as Scope baseline -??

That figure has confused many practitioners. In Agile EVM, the important concept is the relationship between value delivered, actual cost, and planned value, rather than the labels alone. If the legend appears inconsistent, focus on the definitions: Earned Value is completed scope, Actual Cost is what has been spent, and Planned Value is the value planned by that point. The underlying EVM principles remain valid even when Agile delivery changes how progress is measured.
