Experience is one of the greatest assets a project professional can have. It helps us recognize risks, make better decisions, and avoid repeating mistakes.
But too much reliance on experience can sometimes become a constraint. Statements like “We tried that before” or “This is how we have always done it” can reflect valuable lessons, but they may also discourage new ideas and different approaches.
The challenge is to learn from past experience while remaining open to new possibilities. Good project leadership may be about using experience as a guide, rather than allowing it to become a limitation.
In your experience, can experience become a barrier to innovation, or does it ultimately help us make better decisions?
