Does your teams try to use Process Improvements to overcome technical or logistical issues?

Do you often try to improve processes as part of your project team activities when you run into a technical or logistical issue? For example, data transfer is taking days instead of hours, or the operations team's capacity is not adequate to handle future operational demands.

Of course we can create a Project Change Request (PCR) and ask for more money or more time or both, but is a best practice to think of better ways (i.e. process improvements)?

Please share you ideas and feedback.

I always try to improve culture to minimize duration and capacity problems.
Limiting capacity (short-handedness veiled in "lean") is a purposeful culture decision.
Executives like to scale Ops (for profit).
Many executives don't like to scale Change (for prosperity).
Just don't lose sleep about a culture choice to restrict capacity.
Coach the Operations team to not lose sleep over limited capacity.
If executives had the skills and incentives to fix the problem, they would do it.
They don't, so they don't.

I'm happy to discuss CULTURE improvements that reduce duration and capacity issues OR reduce anxiety that those issues are the whole point for the culture.

Yes, especially when the same issue keeps happening. Before asking for more time, budget, or resources, I think it makes sense to look at how the work is being done and whether something in the process is creating the problem.
Sometimes additional resources are necessary, but sometimes changing a handoff, removing an unnecessary step, or improving how teams coordinate can solve part of the issue without increasing the project cost.
