PMI Courses - without exams? Are these legitimate?

Hi everyone,

Ever since I attained my PMP certification, I have been contacted by numerous "PMI Approved Training Partners" offering PMI courses with attached PDUs - but no requirement to take or complete any exams.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience or know these are recognised/legitimate?

Aaron, many organizations, including PMI, offer courses that don’t require you to take or complete an exam. These are generally professional development courses rather than certification preparation courses, and they can provide PDUs that count toward maintaining your PMP certification. PMI also recognizes courses offered by its Authorized Training Partners as a valid way to earn Education PDUs.

As for the legitimacy of the specific courses you’re being contacted about, I can’t really speak to that without knowing which organizations or resources you’re referring to. If they are claiming to be PMI Authorized Training Partners, it would be worth verifying their status directly through PMI before enrolling.

Adding to Rami's point: one thing I'd check is whether they give you clear information on how to actually claim the PDUs on the PMI website. A legitimate provider should be able to tell you exactly how the course maps to PDU claims, not just say "PDUs included" without any detail on the process.

If they can't explain that clearly, or the instructions seem vague, that's usually a sign to verify their ATP status directly with PMI before enrolling, same as Rami suggested.
